Hi All, Their website just states cancelled due to lack of traders signing up.
Thats a shame as it's not a bad run accross the A66 nowadays.

Hi Paul,

Great to work you last night from my very modest portable operation. I was running an FT-897 with 100Watts and a 1/4 vertical strapped to a beach sign with 3 radials on the beach :-).

My location for the portable operation was a place called Maraetai Beach which is about an hour east of Auckland City on the eastern coastline of New Zealand. The purpose was to eliminate Auckland noise and see if we can work some DX if we change location close to the sea with a minimal setup, and we had a great night of DX, including working MS0WRC of course.

Thanks again Paul, and hope to see you again.

Best Regards,
Chris Parnell, ZL1CDP

Very well done to all on Barra. I have, of course, looked at the website and the photographs. I hope the accommodation was comfortable!

I guess you are right Keith, the Terrain between Frizington & the Club Site probably doesn't help much either.

I'm glad Rebecca enjoyed saying hello to Barra, I must say it was good just to hear Barra booming through a very busy Band that evening, it took me a while to pick MS0WRC out amongst the rest but it was easily the strongest & clearest signal out there.

OK Steve and friends thanks for QSO earlier at the club site - Rebecca loved the chance to say hello..

Colin - maybe frizington is just that bit too far for QSO from workington.

I've kept a check on 80 and 20 but never heard much from Barra here - wrong place wrong time....

Anyhoo - it was quite special to be allowed the contact especially when I said 73 the s meter bashed the end stop and the amount of traffic trying to work barra was fem-non-in-al
